Breweries and Tours

Nottinghamshire is home to many breweries making it the ideal destination if you want to find out what goes into your pint.

Castle Rock is Nottingham’s largest brewery and is well-known for its beers such as Elsie Mo, Harvest Pale and Screech Owl, as well as numerous special edition ales. It also runs its own group of pubs which includes the Kean’s Head in the Lace Market and the Lincolnshire Poacher on Mansfield Road. Take a tour of the brewery and will be able to see how beer is made, pour your own drink and sample up to three beers.

Close to the football grounds of Nottingham Forest and Notts County, you will find the Trent Navigation. Book a tour of the brewery and see how this popular local ale is produced before enjoying a drink and a meal. The menu has a range of hearty dishes including the Navigation Bangers, made from pork and Navigation stout and served with butter cream mash and onion gravy.

The Welbeck Estate produces its own tradional ales which can be purchased at Welbeck Farm Shop, including the light ale Henrietta, named after one of the former Duchesses and made from spring water sourced on the estate.

Meanwhile, those who remember Nottingham’s famous Shipstones brewery are now able to enjoy a new version of the beer which pays tribute to the original. It is available at pubs throughout the city, including the Malt Cross and Broadway. In addition, our Tourism Centre on Smithy Row stocks Shipstones merchandise including t-shirts and hoodies.
