Family Days Out

From children's theme parks and adrenalin-fuelled adventures to city centre attractions there are plenty of family days out to enjoy in the home of Robin Hood.

Many families come to Nottinghamshire every year to spend days out enjoying our attractions and countryside. Youngsters will love Sundown Adventure Land, White Post Farm and Robin Hood's Wheelgate Park, while interactive attractions such as National Justice Museum are perfect for school age children. And of course, we also have plenty of Robin Hood attractions plus events which take place throughout the year, including the Robin Hood Festival held in the outlaw's famous hideout, Sherwood Forest.

Teenagers are notoriously hard to please but we have plenty of activities for them to enjoy in Nottinghamshire, including Go Ape! at Sherwood Pines, go-kart driving at ELK Motorsport, and ice skating at the National Ice Centre.

Nottinghamshire is also full of great country parks including Rushcliffe Country Park and Attenborough Nature Reserve which are perfect for family activities. Spend some quality time with the family playing outdoor games such as football, cricket or rounders or follow a scenic trail around the park. Enjoy the great outdoors at the Conkers, the award winning attraction at The Heart of the National Forest, a unique mix of indoor and outdoor experiences to keep you and your family engaged for hours.

Or why not hop on a bike and see what Nottinghamshire has to offer? At Sherwood Pines there are plenty of off-road trails for cyclists of all abilities and you can also hire bikes if you don't want to bring your own. For more details on cycling, including accomodation, trails, hire and events, visit our dedicated page.

Delve deep into the underground and see why Nottinghamshire is famed for its cave network. At Creswell Crags you can see the Ice Age cave drawings left by our ancestors, while at the City of Caves in Nottingham you can go on an archaeological journey through the sandstone caves. Visitors can go on a tour with Annie and Archie the Archaeologists and find out more about this fascinating attraction.

If all that exploration has given you an appetite then head to the family friendly Cosmo Nottingham where diners can can sample dishes from around the world.
