Indoor Activities

You will be spoilt for choice with a selection of indoor activities to keep you entertained. Here is our round-up of a few attractions you can visit when the weather isn't at its best. . .

In the city centre, take a trip to the Galleries of Justice Museum for a guided performance tour of Shire Hall by the Villainous Sheriff of Nottingham himself. He’ll tell you all about crime and punishment through the ages.

A short distance away you’ll find Green’s Windmill and Science Centre which is a great way to introduce science to young children and pick up some locally produced flour at the same time. This is a great interactive attraction where you can spend a couple of hours escaping the rainy weather - FREE to visit.

A real favourite is Mansfield’s Making it! Discovery Centre which gives school age children the opportunity to design and build their own product. It’s a great way to learn all about how things are really made in the grown up world.

For a true heritage experience, visit The Workhouse in Southwell to see the best preserved Victorian Workhouse in England. This magnificent building is a real insight into how the Victorians dealt with the poor and an eye opener to the experiences of the people who lived there.

Why not try something a little different? Ice skating is a fun experience whatever your age or ability and where better to give it a go than at the National Ice Centre (NIC) – the UK’s centre for excellence for ice sports? There are a range of ice skating sessions on offer to suit all ages and abilities, from the loudest disco to quieter sessions for beginners and families. The NIC has two ice pads with most public sessions taking place on The Capital One Ice Rink.

Alternatively, search through all attractions that are good options on rainy days.
